Not still a dorm room, not yet a house

Until I land a salary that allows me to own the very overpriced real estate in DC, the apartment design dilemma is mine to keep. Drill or don't drill? Paint and have to paint again? Purchase fabulous furniture not knowing if the next place will fit it all?

There is one dilemma I am determined to overcome. Those boring white walls. Enough already. As a young professional it has been difficult to identify the middle point between dorm room and designer style. Here are a few ideas that seem to fit in my happy place:

The gold wall display in this photo from Habitually Chic is actually a curtain.

Kim Miles from HGTV's design Star tells you how to put up fabric wallpaper and quickly take it down when you get ready for the next place.

CRAFT posted these adorable fabric cut out. Same application process as the wallpaper.
A wall of mirrors, but not a wall mirror... The pattern and framed mirrors look lovely with the contemporary decor.
Vision Decor posted this contemporary design with mirrors as a reminder that a wall mirror is not the only option.

We have all seen the stick on wall art which can be stylish. Style Files reminds us to keep it interesting though by mixing up fonts and colors.

  1. I remember this dilemma. Love the mirrors but then that is a lot of holes. Maybe paint but just some areas?
